When Central Bucks schools were under threat by divisive agendas that were discriminatory and setting our children back, the ACLU, Ed Law Center, NAACP, PFLAG, and Librarians spoke out.

Censoring Books in School Libraries & Classrooms

We believe that kids, guided by families and educators, can choose their own books from their school libraries. But our school board just gave a small minority of vocal parents with extreme views control over materials that are available to all students in the district. All parents in the district should have the right to decide what is and is not appropriate for their own child.

It could not be clearer. This policy is censorship and we don’t want it in our schools. Help us fight for kids’ right to read good books.

These policies are disconnected from what the majority of students, parents and teachers want in Bucks County.

“For however long is left, I’m just going to do what I can to keep putting good content in my classroom, to keep having good books, even if it’s not all of the good books I would want. Maybe in five years, we’ll be at a point where I can pull stuff out again and not be afraid.”

District Teacher

“What are they afraid of that there needs such a limiting policy? Diverse books? Books about people of different races, cultures, religions, genders, sexualities? Real authentic stories? Real Life? Real people? Are they afraid of me?

No book made me transgender just as no book turned my eyes from brown to blue!“

District Student

“The district’s refusal to create a policy on [sex education] is fostering discrimination against gender expansive students. Lack of policy also prevents students from having an equal opportunity of a safe, welcoming environment based on their administrators’ treatment and handling of gender expansive children. That in turn has led to a tremendous amount of stress and anxiety for our students and their families. Hatred and discrimination does not have a home in in CBSD and we will not back down and let it win.”
